Increasing Wages in the Logistics Industry

The talent shortage has made headlines, and reports show that trucking companies and other logistics providers have been impacted the most. The CEO of Traitify, Dan Sines, made a statement regarding the pandemic, saying, “It has affected profitability for carriers and other logistics groups, and made it difficult to find and keep the right talent.” The severe drop in qualified job candidates has plagued job boards, and many warehouses are struggling to get their products to market.

Recruiters in the logistics industry remain hopeful that there will be a sudden hiring surge due to pandemic aid shut-offs, but there are no promises. Experts in the staffing industry have stated that the potential of workers not returning to work is still a possibility.

The big question, of course, is what you should be doing as a hiring manager to take advantage of this possible hiring surge?

Increasing Wages

This topic has been a touchy subject for many employers, which is understandable, but changes need to happen to beat your competitors to hire the best job seekers.. The top job candidates are looking for the best opportunity for them, so I think we could all agree that a good-paying salary sits high on almost any job seekers list.

To make it as easy as possible for logistics employers to see where they stand amongst their competitors, we released our 2021 Salary Guide. Every year, we request input from our trusted clients and partners on the salaries within each branch of our industry to create this guide. It serves as a valuable resource for hiring and retention. COVID-19 Safety Protocols

Whether you’re a small or big logistics business, to attract the best job candidates, you need to do your part in making them feel safe. Talks of the delta variant being worse than COVID-19 have put a halt on many job seekers actively looking to get back to work.

What do you currently have in place to make them feel protected so that they won’t spread the disease to their loved ones? In one of our past blogs, we talked about creating a video for your potential hires on the safety measures you’re taking as a business to help stop the spread of the virus. If you don’t have anything in place now, a safety protocol media release could be the one thing to help get those qualified applicants applying to your job openings.
